Topiramate chemical name is 2,3:4,5- -0- ( 1- methyl and ethyl ) -β -D glucopyranosyl fructose amino sulfonic acid ester, molecular formula is C12 H21 NO8S, the molecular weight is 339.36. Topiramate is a white crystalline powder, bitter, very soluble in sodium hydroxide or sodium phosphate and pH value for the 9-10 alkaline solution, soluble in acetone, chloroform, two dimethyl sulfoxide and ethanol. Solubility in water of 9.8 mg/mL, the saturated solution pH value of 6.3. This medicine is embossed circular coated tablets, the different specifications and colors: white :25 mg, one side of which is engraved with " TOP ", the other side is carved with " 25 ". 50 mg: pale yellow, one side of which is engraved with " TOP ", the other side is carved with " 50 ". 100 mg: yellow, one side of which is engraved with " TOP ", the other side is carved with " 100 ".Also called topiramate, belongs to anticonvulsants, broad-spectrum antiepileptic drug, for all types of epileptic seizures are valid, in which the primary and secondary generalized tonic-clonic seizures and simple or complex partial seizure effects particularly evident.
